No-one is sure where the name came from, the Bonny Cravat may have been a ship, or even a former villager with a dubious reputation.
Whatever the reason for it, it’s the only pub in the country with that name, and one that the people of Woodchurch are rightly proud of.
The newly refurbished pub has two large bars and a games room. There is a good selection of ales on at any one time.
The family garden has a decked area, a patio, children’s play equipment and a barbecue.
Although it’s modern and family friendly, the building is steeped in history.
In the cellar there is a priesthole, while a tunnel leads directly to the church opposite, believed to date from the time of the Reformation.
The pub has full disabled access and a large car park.
We are a new business bringing Coffee to Hamstreet!! We also have a fabulous range of local teas from the Kent and Sussex Tea Company
Very excited to be able to offer you a new hot chocolate experience!! Gorgeous choice of chocolate sticks to just pop into a glass of hot steamed milk, simply stir and enjoy.
Pop by and see what lovely flavours we have to offer!!

In addition to fitting your tyre we will also balance the wheels. Wheel balancing ensures that the weight of the wheel and tyre is even around the axle, and is achieved by placing tiny offsetting weights at specific points around the wheel.
Skilled and experienced tyre technicians carry out puncture repair services at TYRE RACK. We will safely fit your tyre back again and ensure the wheel balancing is correct.
Correct wheel alignment improves road holding and maximises the life of tyres. Aligning the front two wheels resolves alignment issues for most vehicles.
Our expert technicians will carry out a pressure check and inspect for tread depth, wear and damage to ensure your tyres are safe and legal.
If the tyre inspection shows up any problems, we will offer advice on what can be done to correct the issue.

Carriage Driving helps to improve co-ordination, balance and sense of well-being and can greatly improve the quality of life of many disabled people.” The group meets every Wednesday between April and October and activities include driving around the local lanes and fields, grooming, tack cleaning, and a well-attended annual fun day. Susi added “We all get immense pleasure from carriage driving and volunteering with the group is fun and rewarding.
The Woodchurch Carriage Driving for the Disabled is on a huge drive for volunteers. The group, which is part of the National Riding for the Disabled Charity now, has around 50 people involved with the group and urgently needs more help. Susi Anderson, the group’s organiser said “The group has gone from strength to strength but we desperately need more volunteers if we are to expand and help more disabled adults. . Previous experience is not necessary as all training is given – all we need is enthusiasm!” The group has had a successful year as fundraising has provided 2 new carriages and planning permission was granted for an indoor carriage driving arena. Anybody interested in volunteering, helping with fund-raising for the group or wanting to know more about the group should contact Susi Anderson, Group Organiser on 01233 860 870 or visit the website at http://www.rdawoodchurch.co.uk
Woodchurch is fortunate to have many societies and clubs which provide the focus for community life. The Woodchurch Gardening Society can claim to be the oldest society in the village. Founded in 1887, the Woodchurch Amateurs and The Cottage gardening Society existed under the patronage of the Schreiber family, owners of the estate that covered much of the village. Nowadays the Society is affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society.
The highlights were the shows which eventually amalgamated into one annual show, which continues to this day.
The society holds monthly meetings from March to November. There is a varied programme which includes
- Guest Speakers
- Practical demonstrations
